United Tansania e.V. is a German NGO based in Tanzania. Since our creation in 2021 our aim has been to protect both of Tanzania's hyena species: the striped hyena, classified as near threatened by the IUCN, and the spotted hyena. Both species are sadly threatened by habitat loss, climate change and conflict with humans.

Our mission is to protect biodiversity and the ecosystem while preserving existing species and habitats. The first step is to identify the threats for wildlife species before sustainable conservation strategies, in collaboration with local communities, can be established.
I faced rhinos, did game capture operations on zebras, lions, rhinos and many more in Namibia, walked with giraffes in Tanzania, experienced close encounters with elephants in Botswana, rescued hyenas caught in snares in Malawi and attended Game Capture Courses in Zimbabwe. Even now, I am still amazed when watching the colorful African sunsets and sitting around the fire under the mantle of sparkling stars while chatting with the most inspiring people ...
I reached all my life targets so far but my dream of 30 years was still unrealized: to live and work in Africa alongside wildlife.
Here I am now running United Tansania e. V., doing what I love and where I belong to. I am able to continue my epic journey after a long interruption, returning to the continent chosen by my heart, this time for good, and to work on Human-Hyena conflicts at Lake Eyasi on the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
