A powerful and unprecedented alliance is forming in the heart of Tanzania’s tourism industry. A group of the most influential women in the safari and lodge sector are uniting their voices and resources for a shared purpose: to ensure the survival of one of the ecosystem’s most misunderstood yet vital predators: Spotted hyenas. This coalition is comprised of leaders from the Nature Responsible Safaris, Ziwani Lodge, Kaliwa Lodge, Africa Eco Expeditions, Hatari Lodge, Serengeti Queens Camp, and Olorien Safari Lodge. We are also proud to count Altezza Travel as a committed partner to this extraordinary coalition. Alex is generously donating the vehicle for this year's Safari Auction as well as supporting our Camera Scout Project. Their continuous support helps drive the success of our projects and ensures that the next generation of wildlife and landscapes will thrive for years to come. In conclusion, this coalition is stepping beyond hospitality and leading a movement at the front lines of wildlife protection. And, as a guest to the safari, you can become an important part of these efforts.
Beispiel-Text
This landmark auction was born from a critical necessity. While many flagship species receive global attention, funding for the Spotted hyena remains scarce. Often overlooked in traditional conservation budgets, these apex predators are essential to the health of the East African landscape. To address this, these female leaders are combining their influence to empower the founder of United Tansania, a fellow woman dedicated to carnivore research and the mitigation of human-wildlife conflict. The primary goal of this event is to raise the necessary funds to transition United Tansania’s research from camera-trap monitoring to a sophisticated GPS Satellite Collaring program. While camera traps have provided foundational data, the introduction of collars is a technological leap that will transform the project's impact.
For a conservationist, a GPS collar is more than a tracking device. They provide a vital window into the secret lives of carnivores that allows for: - Gathering precise data on movement to identify the exact corridors hyenas use to navigate between protected areas and human settlements. - Identifying activity patterns that will help United Tansania understand when and where these animals are most active. This also allows us to better predict and prevent conflict with local livestock. - Gathering anti-poaching intelligence so that we can act as a silent guardian. The collars serve as a real-time identifier for potential poaching hotspots. When an animal’s movement stops or becomes irregular, it allows for immediate investigation and intervention.
To make this vision a reality, iconic Tanzanian lodges like the Kaliwa and Hatari lodges, are donating exclusive stays and safari experiences to be auctioned to the highest bidder. This includes the rare opportunity to be among the first to experience three stunning new lodges the Serengeti Queens Camp, Olorien Safari Lodge, African Eco Expeditions and Haradali alongside established gems like Hatari & Kaliwa Lodge. By bidding on these high-end accommodations, participants aren't just booking a luxury holiday. They are directly purchasing the hardware and field hours required to collar a hyena. The generosity of these lodge owners ensures that 100% of the proceeds go directly toward the technical assets needed on the ground.
More than just a fundraiser, this auction represents a profound statement about the power of female leadership in Tanzania. The auction also showcases a "Conservation Through Tourism" model where the private sector takes a stand for the scientific community. These women act both as hosts to the world but also as protectors to the land that makes their industry possible. By supporting this auction, you are joining a pledge for the future of Tanzania’s wildlife while helping to provide the data that will allow humans and predators to coexist. You are ensuring that United Tansania has the tools to protect our beloved hyenas, the silent hunters of the night.
